課程概述

This course provides basic wellness nutrition knowledge, dietary management principle for various sick companion animal patients. The lectures are composed of didactic lectures, interactive discussions, and on-demand on-line studies. The course objectives are to familiarize attending students to be familiar and confident in communicating the importance of nutrition in life stage health support, various disease management, and prevention in companion animal. 

課程目標
I. Nutrients and Clinical Nutrition
II. Commercial pet food manufacturing, labels and regulations,
III. Home make food and food safety
IV. Nutritional management of normal pets – normal, athelete canine and cats
V. Nutritional management of clinical patients (I) – assisted feeding for hospitalized patients, enteral and parenteral nutrition
VI. Nutritional management of clinical patients (II) – obesity, adverse reactions to food, skin and hair disorders
VII. Nutritional management of clinical patients (III) –dental disease, developmental orthopedic disease of dogs, cardiovascular disease
VIII. Nutritional management of clinical patients (IV) – renal disease, canine urolithiasis, FLUTD
IX. Nutritional management of clinical patients (V) –gastrointestinal and exocrine pancreatic disease, Hepatobillary disease, endocrine and lipid disorders, cancer
X. Use of fatty acids in inflammatory disease and dietary effects on drug metabolism
 
課程要求
Finish course material review, turn in weekly course assignments, finish interactive on-line course.
